FUTURE VISIONS THROUGH MUSIC, ART, POLITICS

In October 2016, The Another World Is Possible Coalition hosted a voter-engagement event at The Arlene Francis Center in Santa Rosa. The community created a showcase of progressive visions for a more just, resilient and people-powered future. We invited the community into an experience woven with art, music, dance, and politics - all envisioning the legacy our generation will pass on through immediate actions and long-term visioning of a better world!

THE NORTH BAY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FAIR

In January 2017, The North Bay Community Engagement Fair - hosted by The Another World Is Possible Coalition, inspired by the 2017 October Future Visions event, drew thousands of community members together at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds to engage with over 100 grassroots community-based organizations all radically motivated from the results of the election that year. The fair encouraged imagination of tangible possibilities and actions of positive change - inspiring hope and motivating individuals to activate through realms of unified efforts of civic-engagement. A network lounge of connection was sponsored by The Arlene Francis Center for Spirit, Art, and Politics, and family areas with activities were hosted by The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Santa Rosa. COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP BREAKFAST

In April 2017, The Another World Is Possible Coalition invited 200 local leaders to a Community Leadership Breakfast at the Sustainable Enterprise Conference, to engage and collaborate across sectors in a brainstorm session covering the One Planet Principles - connecting like-minded organizations, exploring shared values with a diverse spectrum of local groups, and exploring shared visions - building a foundation for collective impact. This session aims to cultivate synergy, collaboration, and a holistic (and effective) ecosystem of change-makers, leaders, and coalitions of every kind. This gathering will help foster cross-collaboration, cultivate shared visioning and project discussion, and create an opportunity for your organization to share how we as a community can support your success!

In October 2017, the most destructive fires in California's history ravaged throughout Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake Counties — a disaster which displaced more than a hundred thousand people, took over a dozen lives, destroyed thousands of homes, farms, vineyards, and burned over 200,000 acres of this place we love. The very next year, the Camp Fire broke that record, as our state was forced to navigate two record setting years of wildfires. This past month, we faced direct threats and danger as the Kincade fire erupted, causing the largest evacuation in Sonoma County history. This trend of intensity, and frequency of natural disasters is predicted to increase as reports from the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) call for drastic action in the next 10 years to avoid catastrophic climate impacts. It is critical that as our community strives to rise up to these challenges, that we root ourselves in the strength of our diverse resilience.

The Just and Resilient Future Fund was generated from community donations and donor contributions, created by The Another World Is Possible Coalition, and sponsored by The Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment in response to the 2017 wildfires to support organizations that provide immediate recovery assistance for the most vulnerable populations, and to initiatives that build healthy, just, and resilient communities. THE NORTH BAY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT FAIR 2020
